Talk to a Stranger Week
Small Talk, Big Impact: Connection Matters
Saturday, November 28
2:00pm - 5:00pm

Community Desk, CMChat with one of our friendly Cambridge Public Library ambassadors and take the "Talk to a Stranger" goodness on the road.
Build your social health and happiness with one simple trick: talk to a stranger. Feeling rusty? This post-pandemic world has only increased our isolation and damaged our feelings of connection and belonging. Your library can help with that! This week we supply the stranger for you to practice with, and a reason to make it happen.
Stop by one of our 'conversation stations' and chat with a friendly library volunteer, pick up your "I Talk to Strangers" sticker then hit the road. We can make a difference in our own lives and the lives of others by simply saying hello, smiling, or striking up a conversation with a stranger.
About Talk to a Stranger Week
Talk to a Stranger Week is held annually in November, and intends to educate and empower Canadians to build stronger connections and communities through the simple power of talking to strangers. In 2021, Genwell - Canada’s Human Connection Movement - conducted a Canadian Social Connection Survey. One of the things they found was that people who talked to a stranger just once a week were up to three times happier than those who didn’t speak to strangers. Other research suggests that only 20% of Canadians talk to strangers each day and it is nearly 100% of the time that both parties are happy that the exchange happened. Talk To A Stranger Week may provide another opportunity for citizens of Cambridge to build healthier connection habits starting today.
